Early converted to God, he gave Him his whole heart, and began to work for Him with wonderful success. When on shore, he could be found in the prayer-meeting pre senting the Gospel of the world's Redeemer to the poor and needy. He had a mission chapel, which he supported for many years. There he gathered in God's needy ones. Being a sailor, he knew how to cast his net on the right side of the Gospel ship, and always with great success. To the astonishment of many who had fished all night without suc cess, the Captain had his net full. Captain Sturdivant was anointed by God to preach good tidings to the meek. He came to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison house to them that were bound, dealing his bread to hungry, bringing the poor that were cast out to his house, clothing the naked - never hiding from his own esh. He had a handsome fortune. He has given it all to God's poor. His treasure is laid up where moth and rust doth not corrupt.
